CHLOR*RID USED FOR OVERCOATINGBRIDGE IN BINGHAMTON, NY<\/h2><\/div>

In a bridge overcoating project on State Route 201 across the Susquehanna River near Binghamton, CHLOR*RID cleaned not only de-icing salts found atop the bridge, but airborne salts, such as sulfates and nitrates, and other corrosive elements that settled underneath it.<\/p>\n

CHLOR RID worked with the experienced contracting firm Amstar of NY to treat and coat the two-beamed bridge above the Susquehanna River. CHLOR RID\u2019s NACE Certified Coating Inspector performed pre-wash testing to find zero nitrates on the east side beam, and 30-40 \u00b5g of nitrates on the west side beams. After the bridge was pressure washed with 1% CHLOR*RID solution salt levels were reduced by 63%.<\/p>\n

Amstar had the experience and knowledge to realize that merely performing a water wash procedure prior to rust removal required by most specifications does not adequately remove soluble salt contamination. The addition of CHLOR*RID to the wash water is supported in the test results, which showed that washing performed prior to surface preparation allowed salts to be leeched through the existing rust. The CHLOR*RID was effectively reduced salts to very low levels.<\/p>\n
